Croatia is set to enhance its winter airline offerings with over 150 routes, marking a substantial increase from the 118 routes available during the same period the previous year. The Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB) reports that these routes will establish direct connections with 28 countries, including prominent European destinations like Poland, Germany, UK, as well as international locations such as the Qatar and United Arab Emirates.

Key cities like Munich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Vienna, and London will play a pivotal role in this expanded network, facilitating direct links to a total of 69 international cities throughout the winter flying season.

Kristjan Staničić, the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, emphasized the significance of air traffic for Croatian tourism, especially in connecting with key source markets outside the summer season. The introduction of new airlines and increased direct flights to major European capitals aims to make Croatian destinations more accessible and appealing to numerous guests.

According to the CNTB, With 65% of anticipated air operations, Zagreb Airport is anticipated to host the most, followed by Split and Zadar airports, which have identical percentages of 12%.

The winter flight schedule anticipates the participation of 27 different carriers, with Trade Air, Ryanair, Croatia Airlines,and Lufthansa expected to have the most substantial number of operations during this period. According to a recent Mabrian report, Croatia could see a notable increase in tourism during the fall and winter, with some months expected to see growth rates of more than 20% over the previous year. The study also pointed out opportunities for Croatia’s tourist patterns to be improved, especially in the normally slower months.

A comparison with regional counterparts shows that the Southeast Mediterranean region is dependent 9% points greater on the high period than the average in the nearby Mediterranean.
